Michae in contemplation.

In 2000, Michae had a bright idea, and was encouraged to make it happen. He wanted to support meditators after Vipassana courses by allowing them to buy materials from Pariyatti Books without having to order online. So a consignment store was born.

Since a full time commercial outlet was not needed, Michae used our local community center, the
North Fork STUDIO, to set out his books and tapes on mornings when 10 day courses ended.

For several years Michae ran the bookstore, and then passed the bookstore to Claudia Martinez and Scott vanDenBergh.

Claudia and Scott ran the store for several years. They shared,"The book store was a conduit to allow a diversity of culture and humanity stop in for a short visit, make new connections, and head out on their diverging roads, towards a common goal. We Thank You!"

They gave amazing support to many meditators for 5 years. When Claudia completed her graduate degree in social work from Fresno State, they passed the store to Caroline Coons.

Caroline Coons - 2007
Caroline Coons was the next person to run the store. With great generosity (people approached me during my first year with money for books Caroline sent with them when they could not pay at the time - and she did receive it).

We often get folks asking (with great fondness) how she is doing. She is quite happy with her husband and baby Sam in Virginia. She sends her metta and best wishes.

Caroline said,
'Tending Vipassana Books of North Fork was a great privilege for me! I loved seeing everyone radiant, inspired & full of insight on Day 11. What a gift to experience your efforts of ten days! I'm so grateful I got to serve off-site in this capacity as a Vipassana bookseller. Thank you for supporting my efforts to run Vipassana Books of North Fork! '

Joshua & Sara Freeman - 2009
I took over the bookstore in 2009 when Caroline and Wes travelled to Europe and India. After several months of continuing as a consignment store, I decided to change to a bookstore. This has made it much easier for both myself and Pariyatti. My daughter Sara helps run the store.

I am deeply grateful for Michae, Claudia, Scott and Caroline for nurturing the bookstore so that Sara and I can continue supporting new and old Vipassana students. Heaven for me is being able to speak with people from many cultures and countries, and these folks come to North Fork!

For many months the STUDIO was undergoing an upgrade in 2013 & 2014. Now there is a beautiful inside that allows me more space and comfort.

I also design websites, so this website has been a great joy for me, I love sharing resources. It has grown over the last couple of years and I intend to keep adding. If you have requests, please let me know.
Requests

with metta and best wishes,
Joshua

Meditation Now!

Although Vipassana Books of North Fork is no longer a consignment store, Pariyatti Books is still the primary supplier of our books and audio materials. We encourage you to go to Pariyatti's website for many wonderful materials.
